Much
of the land in Amador County is being threatened by development.
Large agricultural properties are being divided into smaller
ones that are not becoming unproductive. Foothill counties could
lose thousands of acres in the next years.
Both
tourism and agriculture are vital parts of the local economy
of Amador County. The lands are a major part of the history
and culture.
The
Amador Land Trust was established in 1990 by a coalition of
ranchers, conservationists and other citizens to protect the
lands from developers. It is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization.
It provides technical assistance to landowners on preservation
of their lands and promotes public awareness on the importance
of protecting foothill lands.
Please come and enjoy the Amador Lands before it is too
late.
